How is Path of Building expected to behave?

Generally, increasing maximum life should increase the effective hit pool.

How does Path of Building behave?

In the exported build below, if you allocate a #% increased maximum Life node, your Effective Hit Pool decreases. Probably some weird interaction with hp gain on block, or a rounding error? The Hits before death also changes, but pob doesn't say how that value is calculated.
