Description
OuvertureMap announced the General Availability (GA) of its Transportation schemas in a blog post on December 19, 2024.
https://overturemaps.org/announcements/2024/overture-general-availability-of-transportation-dataset/
This blog post describes "The Transportation dataset includes detailed, accurate data from aerial imagery, clear road routes with recognizable highway signs, comprehensive rail and ferry route information, and better handling of complex traffic rules and restrictions."
We are considering using OuvertureMap's schema and dataset for various transportation modes, including aero, rail, and ferry industries. I am curious about the maturity of the railway and water schemas (is the water schema related to the ferry industry?). Upon reviewing the schema documentation on GitHub, I noticed that the Rail & Water segments are still in development
https://github.com/OvertureMaps/schema/blob/v1.7.0/docs/schema/reference/transportation/segment.mdx#subtypes
Could you provide us update on the schema maturity ?
As the blog post is providing GA and have also shared some information related to rail & water, where could I find up-to-date information to start working with it ?
Could you also consider adding "aero" to the future of Transportation schema to cover flights (Departure, Arrival), connecting flights (journey's segments?), and similar data, as FlightAware and FlightPath3D provide this kind of information on their API & Map?
