Research direction

Start by reviewing the button and link component hover styles and their variant definitions. Compare the current translucent behavior with the designer screenshot and determine the opaque blended background expected for each variant. Done means hover states no longer reveal an image background across all button and link variants.

Prerequisites
Proposal

The button and link components have translucent background on the hover state. When using this kind of component on a photo/image background we can see the picture through the component background.
Designers found it odd, and want to apply an opaque background for this kind of use.
The idea here is to have an opaque background that is the result of the mix of the translucent background with the primary background.

Since, the translucent color may occur in every variant, the feature should work for all variants.
