Describe the issue
This is a lovely feature. I decided to take my experience to the max and make a maximum sized flat map (999x999) and just go wild. With this, i noticed that the lighting effect does not work when exceeding a certain distance on the map. I don't want to come off as nitpicking, but i was sad to see that one of my favorite features of ORCT2 doesn't work well when i take the game to the extreme and make a big map.
I have only found two mentions of this bug, one on reddit and one on a ORCT2 (archived) forum discussion, but no conclusion or even mention of specifics as to how to reproduce it.
I am new here so i apologize if i omitted any important details, i would love to know how this could be resolved, how much effort this would require? Is this doable with an openrct2 development tool? I would love to give it a shot myself if i had the know-how, i have the willpower!
Thank you for your time
Steps to reproduce
-
start or load a map with at least 450x450 size. To be sure, make or load a map with 999x999 size, but i say 450 because the cutoff of the lighting effect occurs roughly at the middle of the map.
-
click your park button on the top right, click locate (four red arrows) - this is your park's starting point.
-
Go slightly past half the middle of the map towards the opposing end
-
place path(s), and lamps. Make sure it is nighttime and lighting effects are enabled
-
rotate the camera and notice that the lighting disables when facing east & west
-
attempt this a little further up if it doesn't happen, for me it's just about, or slightly past the half of the map

Research direction
Start by reproducing the issue on Windows 11 with OpenRCT2 v0.4.29 using a map at least 450x450, then place lamps at night and rotate the camera east and west beyond the map midpoint. No file or test is named in the report, so trace the lighting-effects rendering path from this reproduction. Done means lighting remains enabled regardless of camera direction and distance on large maps.
