Currently pypopsift will not keep only the best features, but will use all of them.

Research direction
Start by reading the pypopsift implementation and compare its feature-selection behavior with the CPU SIFT path. Use issue #1664 for the intended trimming behavior and identify the relevant tests or entry points before making changes.
