Description

Currently, to the best of my knowledge, there is no configuration option in the OpenAPI Generator CLI to skip unused models.

The (modelsToGenerate) configuration option allows to specify list of models to generate, but in the case of hundreds of models and only a subset of them not being used, this requires defining very long lists and keeping this configuration in sync in case those models change.

Research direction

Start with the OpenAPI Generator CLI configuration handling and the existing modelsToGenerate option; the issue does not name specific files or tests. Trace how model usage is determined during generation, then verify that a configuration option skips unused models without requiring a manually maintained model list.
