Description

As Boost confirms its property_tree::ptree implementation has no 100% conformance to JSON standard and since there's already boost::json library out there it might be worth considering switching to the later one and solve critical issues related to de/serialization from/to string of non-string data types.

Research direction

Start by locating the C++ Restbed generator and its current boost::property_tree serialization paths. Compare the existing string and non-string serialization behavior with boost::json and define compatibility tests; done means generated Restbed clients serialize and deserialize JSON-compliant non-string values correctly.
