8.0P3 with Cosmos and $select= exception

The setup in my controller is super-simple (_container is really CosmosClient instance call to .GetContainer):

Plain retrieval works (/odata/myitems) as well as $filter (I added .Filter().Select().Expand()), but where I get into trouble is for something as simple as $select=id. My breakpoint on return is hit, but then it crashes like this (note that none of my classes are on the stack):

Is this related to https://github.com/OData/WebApi/issues/2118 or something entirely different? Any ideas for workarounds very much appreciated. This is .NET 5.

Start with the controller Get action and reproduce the /odata/myitems?$select=id request using the CosmosClient container setup described here. Trace the failure from Cosmos LINQ query enumeration through OData serialization, and consider the issue resolved when the selected response serializes without the PropertyContainer exception.
