Description

Dataset Information

Description

A well-maintained, curated list of open-access MEG, EEG, iEEG, and neurophysiology datasets organized by the FieldTrip toolbox team. The page categorizes datasets by modality and provides brief descriptions with links to data repositories. This is a high-quality resource maintained by an established neuroimaging software team.

Datasets Already in MOABB

Fully Implemented
  • ERP CORE - All 7 paradigms (40 subjects) - ErpCore2021_*
  • BNCI Horizon 2020 - 13 datasets implemented (see #919-#935 for remaining)
  • PhysioNet Motor Movement/Imagery - PhysionetMI (109 subjects)
Partially Covered
  • Lee2019 - Motor Imagery, ERP, SSVEP datasets - Lee2019_MI, Lee2019_ERP, Lee2019_SSVEP

EEG Datasets to Add

BCI-Relevant (High Priority)
  • FieldTrip Made Easy Dataset - 29 subjects, auditory steady-state responses (DOI)
  • Nencki-Symfonia EEG/ERP - 42 subjects, multi-source interference + oddball + reaction time (GigaDB)
  • MIPDB (Multimodal Resource) - Developmental EEG, various paradigms (NITRC)
Large-Scale Resting State (Lower BCI Priority)
  • LEMON Mind-Brain-Body - 228 subjects, resting state (NITRC)
  • Healthy Brain Network (HBN) - 600+ subjects, developmental focus (NITRC)
  • TDBRAIN Clinical Lifespan - 1,274 subjects, resting-state clinical (DOI)
Sleep Datasets
  • National Sleep Research Resource - Multiple sleep studies (sleepdata.org)

MEG Datasets (Future Consideration)

MOABB currently focuses on EEG, but these MEG datasets could be considered for future expansion:

Dataset Subjects Paradigm URL
Human Connectome Project ~100 Rest + 3 tasks http://www.humanconnectome.org
Cam-CAN ~650 Rest, sensorimotor, sensory https://camcan-archive.mrc-cbu.cam.ac.uk/dataaccess/
Open MEG Archive (OMEGA) Multiple Various https://omega.bic.mni.mcgill.ca
Mother Of Unification Studies (MOUS) 204 Rest, language https://doi.org/10.34973/37n0-yc51
Wakeman & Henson 16 Multimodal neuroimaging http://www.nature.com/articles/sdata20151

iEEG Datasets (Specialized)

  • Restoring Active Memory (RAM) - 251 subjects, 700 sessions, ECoG (UPenn)
  • Kai J. Miller Library - 34 patients, 16 behavioral experiments (Stanford)

Notes

This is a META-ISSUE tracking datasets from the FieldTrip Open Data page. The FieldTrip team maintains this as a reliable, up-to-date resource.

Key Insight: Many datasets on this page are already in MOABB or have dedicated issues. The unique value is in the MEG datasets and the curated quality of the list.

Research direction

Start with the FieldTrip Open Data FAQ and compare its listed datasets against existing MOABB entries such as ErpCore2021_, PhysionetMI, and Lee2019_. Review the dedicated BNCI issues #919-#935 before selecting a dataset; completion is not defined because this meta-issue tracks many possible additions, including EEG, MEG, and iEEG work.
