Description
This has been discussed, but not sure if it is still documented anywhere.. This is related to #825 and a few other issues.
Space types won't really be complete until we add this. It will make work easier on a lot of people to not have to add service water heating outside of space types. I have found through testing that if it is in the model and just not hooked up to a water system, that EnergyPlus runs fine, much like a space having a thermostat with no system serving it.

Research direction
Start by reviewing the existing space type and service water heating behavior, then follow the discussion in issue #825 and the related issues mentioned here. No files or tests are named; the work is done when water use equipment belongs to space types and supports area- and person-weighted inputs without requiring separate service water heating setup.
