Add roles to each technology model
Proposed solution
Based on the discussion around #687, we should add an attribute (or similar) to each technology model corresponding to the type of role that it serves in a system-level control context.
This will allow us to programmatically use the technologies in a system-level control context and also make it clear on a per-technology level what each is capable of.
