Description
What is the context of the feature/improvement?
Remix ever since RR was introduced had NRD largely be untouched, leading to major regressions against the ever improving RR that can be addressed fairly, mainly through upgrading NRD to its latest state so people who desire to run remix without temporal SuperSampling or are on different brands can still experience acceptable denoising and image quality
Please describe the feature/improvement?
The main benefit that comes with upgrading to the latest state would be the ability to fully integrate its sigma denoiser and overall modern "spherical harmonics" (SH, but technically SG or Spherical Gaussian) mode.
The sigma denoiser is mainly designed to tackle shadows only so the clearest shadows are possible from an "infinite light source (sun, moon) or a local light source (omni, spot)", along with support for "Shadows with translucency", could be useful to experiment with direct illumination.
It's spherical harmonics mode on the other hand is a modern upgrade to its "relax" and "reblur" denoisers, mainly designed to gain "quality comparable with DLSS-RR", especially under denoising leading to less boiling, flicker and ghosting under motion especially when upscaling, along with having similarly defined and clear shadows RR is known for.

Research direction
The issue does not name files, tests, or entry points. Start by locating the existing NRD integration and identifying the current denoiser version and supported modes, then compare them with the latest NRD release. Done means sigma and SH modes are fully integrated and their denoising behavior is validated for the described lighting and motion cases.
