Description

NVIDIA Open GPU Kernel Modules Version

580.82.09-2

Please confirm this issue does not happen with the proprietary driver (of the same version). This issue tracker is only for bugs specific to the open kernel driver.
  • I confirm that this does not happen with the proprietary driver package.
Operating System and Version

Description: Arch Linux

Kernel Release

Linux astraTZ 6.16.7-arch1-1 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Thu, 11 Sep 2025 17:42:36 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Please confirm you are running a stable release kernel (e.g. not a -rc). We do not accept bug reports for unreleased kernels.
  • I am running on a stable kernel release.
Hardware: GPU

GPU 0: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 (UUID: GPU-c3ff4948-5d54-0f6c-6950-5e78c6b495eb)

Describe the bug

There is no way to enable HDR on RTX 5060. I tried different desktop environments, from Gnome to Hyprland to KDE Plasma, HDR does not work on all of them. But when I switch my GPU from 5060 to 3060, HDR works perfect on my platform and settings.
Since proprietary driver does not support 50 series, I figured this is the only place that I can be able to get some help. I am just wondering if HDR is already supported on 5060 by open kernel modules? If so, there must be something very wrong with my configuration.
If someone is able to get HDR enabled on 5060, please reply to let me know that I am missing something. Your attention is greatly appreciated.

To Reproduce

Install Arch Linux on a platform with RTX 5060. Install whatever DE you like. Install nvidia-open and whatever packages that are required. Btw I don't think this problem is arch-specific.

Research direction

Start by reviewing the attached nvidia-bug-report.log.gz and the reported Arch Linux 6.16.7 environment, then compare the RTX 5060 behavior with the working RTX 3060 setup described in the issue. Determine whether HDR support is expected for the open kernel modules and whether the report identifies a reproducible driver defect; a confirmed cause or documented support limitation is the completion criterion.
