Description

NVIDIA Open GPU Kernel Modules Version

515.65.01

Does this happen with the proprietary driver (of the same version) as well?

I cannot test this

Operating System and Version

Arch Linux

Kernel Release

Linux ARCH 5.19.1-268-tkg-pds #1 TKG SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Sat, 13 Aug 2022 08:45:07 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Hardware: GPU

GPU 0: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti (UUID: GPU-6e80fac2-88da-6bda-dd46-6b2803c67aea)

Describe the bug

While playing a game (namely the Witcher 3), I encountered several moments in about 20-30 minutes (or shorter, at least) where the connection to the display via HDMI would be lost unexpectedly; the only remedy for it has been re-plugging the HDMI cable to get the display output back. This didn't happen before I updated to a 5.19 kernel from a 5.17 kernel.

Needless to say, this is pretty annoying.

Research direction

Start by reviewing the attached nvidia-bug-report.log.gz and the linux-tkg.cfg.zip and kernelconfig.new.zip files, then compare reproduction on the reported 5.17 and 5.19 kernels with the RTX 2080 Ti over HDMI. The issue names no source file or test; done would require identifying and resolving the intermittent display loss, with reproduction confirmed without cable re-plugging.
