Description
What is your question?
in class cutlass.utils.SmemAllocator,the allocate api like this:
allocate(
size_or_type: int,
byte_alignment: int,
*,
loc=None,
ip=None,
) → cutlass.cute.typing.Pointer
why there is not a type arg for allocate?from the code, default type is int8

Research direction
Start with the cutlass.utils.SmemAllocator class and its allocate API, then read how size_or_type and the default int8 type are handled in the referenced code. The work is complete when the API design rationale is clear and the question of whether a type argument is needed has an agreed resolution.
