Description

Which component requires the feature?

CuTe DSL

Feature Request
Image Hi, I am trying to write a quantization kernel using cuteDSL as a start. But I encountered a problem that cuteDSL hasn't supported convertion for a signle element from bf16/f32 to f8. It would be better if you support this feature. Thanks.

Research direction

Start in the CuTe DSL conversion support while tracing the quantization-kernel use case described in the issue. Identify the existing scalar conversion entry point and verify the requested single-element bf16/f32-to-f8 conversions; done means the feature supports that use case.
