Description
A Zendesk user reported an issue where the minimap got stuck when the map path started in Canada and then went to Shanghai. I visually verified.
I tried to create a demonstration map. Mine shows a different problem, in which the minimap starts off "stuck" in Europe, but then contracts to a tiny point for most other slides.
Possibly related to #369 ?

Research direction
Start by opening the linked demonstration map and reproducing the minimap behavior across slides, especially the Canada-to-Shanghai path and the Europe-to-tiny-point case. Trace the minimap behavior in the JavaScript map interface; done means paths crossing the International Date Line keep a correctly positioned and sized minimap.
