Description
https://decision-tree-advisor.vercel.app/
In general, I like the idea of an interactive app which helps people understand some of the concepts and contextual nature of format choice. To make this a useful tool, I think we need to modify the option pathways and inputs and add additional context.
Some initial thoughts:
- I think each of the options, such as "multidimensional" needs definition. Similar to how "request locality" and others have an info icon.
- the start and end values for the ranges for request locality, etc seem somewhat random. These are also not usually on a continuum and are highly use case specific. Perhaps make it clear to the user that the form is intended to provide guidance for one type of use case, not all.
- Zarr vs virtual zarr vs cog may be misleading, sometimes you want both if you want to satisfy multiple use cases and depends on the specific use case and structure of the virtual zarr
- I don't really understand the "recommended path": These seems just like a repetition of the fields selected/
- The "try this" value still says "Switch from Existing NetCDF Archive to New Cloud Pipeline, then compare how Virtual Zarr and Zarr rankings change." when Geoparquet and COPC are the recommendation
- What is a compatibility gate?
