Description
Motivation
Given our expertise and community involvement, we are well positioned to continue to develop cloud-optimized data guidance for NASA and the broader community.
Description
Sub-tasks for this objective are providing documentation and dataset consultations/evaluations for data providers.
Sub-tasks
-
Task 1: Cloud-Optimized Data Decision Tree: Some diagram plus explanatory text, ideally includes examples of each branch
-
Task 2: NISAR Evaluation: Evaluate NISAR data format and provide recommendations to the NISAR Algorithm Development Team (ADT) on HDF5 format improvements that would enable optimized data access patterns. Gain an understanding of the granule production pipeline and determine where the HDF5 structure could be modified to improve cloud-native data access. In 26.2 we scrambled a bit to evaluate the format to make sure there were no major blockers to cloud-native access patterns. We found that users can access the dataset very efficiently but it could be better. There is still time to provide feedback to the mission team before the official release sometime in summer 2026.
-
Task 3: VEDA Instance Dataset Consultations: Dataset + data services consultation for instances: Disasters, AIR4US, EIE, MAAP
LOE
0.75 FTE
Dependencies
Disasters, AIR4US, EIE, MAAP
