Description

The server should gracefully handle failed attempts at loading and initializing objects from the config. This should be happening for the most part already but I noticed an issue where the GUI plugin was causing problems / having problems when other plugins weren't cooperating. It's possible I'm seeing another bug, but either way we should make double sure that the server handles failures gracefully.

Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are named. Start by tracing server config loading and object initialization, then investigate the GUI plugin interaction with other plugins. Done means initialization failures are handled gracefully without one plugin disrupting the server.
