Description

I have a model User with the field:
identities = DynamicField()
When I call the query:

user = User.objects(identities__profileData__email=email).first()

I get mongoengine.errors.InvalidQueryError: 'str' object has no attribute 'name'

So the issue here seems to be that the BaseDocument._lookup_field method seems to return strings, not fields, in some cases. There is even a TODO comment on it. I am able to do the same query using raw as workaround.

Research direction

Start at BaseDocument._lookup_field and reproduce the User.objects(identities__profileData__email=email).first() query described in the issue. Compare its behavior with the raw workaround and trace where the nested DynamicField lookup produces a string. Done means the nested query no longer raises InvalidQueryError and has regression coverage.
