Description
The alert box pops up for a second, then vanishes, leaving just the darkening div visible.
To replicate, open up the examples page and run the default alert in Mobile Safari in landscape mode. Without tabs showing, it works great. Now tap the top of the screen to get the Safari tabs to show (make sure you've got another page open elsewhere).
Once the tabs are open, click the "Run Example" button again and watch the alert box appear and subsequently vanish :(

Research direction
Start with the examples page and reproduce the default alert in Mobile Safari landscape mode, first without tabs and then with Safari tabs visible. Trace the alert triggered by the "Run Example" button and determine why its box disappears while the darkening div remains; done means the alert stays visible in both conditions.
