Description
Awards are created by user and sent to others. They include a picture of a standard size, title and sender's signature. The receiving user may accept or reject the award and make it public or private (or other level of visibility). The awards are displayed in the user's profile.
The sending node may show the people, that accepted its awards, on its People page (taking visibility controls into account). The awards of the user may also be shown in the header of every comment by the user on the node. (Something similar to medal ribbons may be used for this to save traffic.)
Activity bot may give awards for activity. There also may exist awards for taking part in the development.

Research direction
Review the existing profile, comment, People page, and activity-bot behavior before proposing an implementation. Define the award lifecycle, visibility rules, display locations, and how sending and receiving users interact; done means these requirements have an agreed design and coverage across the affected areas.
