Description

Device Information

  • Model: Redmi 12 (Global)
  • Codename: heat/fire
  • OS Version: OS2.0.207.0.VMXMIXM
  • Android Version: 15 (AP3A.240905.015.A2)
  • Kernel Version: 6.6.58
  • Build Fingerprint: Redmi/heat_global/heat:15/AP3A.240905.015.A2/OS2.0.207.0.VMXMIXM:user/release-keys

Issue
The device ships with Linux kernel 6.6.58, but this version is not available in the Xiaomi Open Source portal. The available kernel sources are outdated and do not match the production firmware.

This is a violation of GPL v2 Section 3, which requires distributors to provide corresponding source code upon request.

Request
Please publish the complete kernel source code for version 6.6.58 as used in the Redmi 12 (heat/fire) firmware build OS2.0.207.0.VMXMIXM.

Status
I have already contacted Xiaomi via email (grievance.officer@xiaomi.com, xiaomi-feedback@xiaomi.com) on 29/03/2026. Waiting for response.

Reference: GPL v2 Section 3 - Distribution of object code requires providing corresponding source code.

Research direction

Start by checking the Xiaomi Open Source portal for Redmi 12 (heat/fire), kernel 6.6.58, and build OS2.0.207.0.VMXMIXM, then review the issue's reported email contact and response status. The work is done when Xiaomi publishes the corresponding kernel source matching that firmware build.
