Description

Device Name: Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G
Device Codename: obsidian
SoC: MediaTek Helio G100 (MT6789)

According to the GPLv2 license, Xiaomi is required to release the complete kernel source code for all Linux kernel components included in the firmware of GPL-licensed devices.

The Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G (codename obsidian) has been widely released in global markets, but as of now:
Kernel sources for obsidian have not been published
No branch exists in the Xiaomi_Kernel_OpenSource repository for the MT6789/obsidian platform
Developers are unable to build custom ROMs, recoveries, or debug kernel-level issues without compliant source release
This prevents development of:
Custom ROMs (AOSP/LineageOS/PixelOS/etc.)
TWRP/OrangeFox recovery
Kernel fixes & security patch merging
Device bring-up for OSS-dependent development
Compliance verification for GPL-licensed components
Why This Is Needed
The kernel source is required to:
Ensure GPLv2 compliance
Allow community developers to work on stable custom builds
Implement proper device tree (DTBO/DTB) support
Build matching kernel modules
Enable full compatibility with Android 14/15 frameworks
Maintain kernel-level security fixes
Xiaomi has an excellent history of releasing sources, and we kindly request continuation of that support for the 2026 device lineup.
Request
Please release the complete kernel source code for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G (obsidian) including:
Kernel tree for the MT6789 platform
Device-specific DTS/DTSI
Kernel configuration (defconfig)
Vendor driver modules
Any required build scripts
A release branch similar to previous Xiaomi Android 14/15 releases would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Thank you for your continued support of the developer community. We appreciate Xiaomi’s timely kernel releases and look forward to the obsidian kernel source being published soon.
