It is a very simple one, just a few lines of code. But solves a big problem for anyone while developing.

It should not be difficult to update it. Probably just loosing its dependency on a fixed version of email@1.0.8 would already be enough.

Start by reviewing the linked Atmosphere package and the meteor-mailman project referenced in the issue. Inspect how the fixed email@1.0.8 dependency is declared and determine the supported update path; done means the abandoned package no longer depends on that fixed version and its existing behavior remains intact.
