[Bug]: WalletConnect does not work on mobile

### Describe the bug

I have tried to connect to a couple different dapps with metamask mobile but the walletconnect does not seem to work. The mobile app just hangs at the Connecting to MetaMask popup. It was working a few months ago but it stopped working. This is a big deal because I would not be able to touch my funds held up at dapps if I am logged out. I was able to connect with the browser extension. Without the browser extension, I would have been very screwed.

I have tried with other wallets and they work as well so it was not an issue on the dapp side.

I also have tried to clear local data and cache as well as deleting and reinstalling the app but did not solve the issue.

When connecting to a dapp using WalletConnect, metamask mobile app should prompt you with requests.

### Steps to reproduce

1. Go to a dapp website on a desktop browser (ex. https://www.asterdex.com)
2. Click Connect Wallet
3. Scan the QR code with the metamask mobile app
4. Observe the hanging pop up that says "Connecting to MetaMask..."
5. IF it works, try disconnecting and connecting again with the same wallet.
