Testing

We need to add testing of the scripts. It might be difficult to test the actual build scripts (we don't want to build all of LFRic all the time :) ), but at least the base classes (baf_base and lfric_base) should be tested.

Start by locating the build scripts and the baf_base and lfric_base classes named in the issue, then inspect how this repository currently runs tests. Add coverage for those base classes first; determine whether the actual build scripts can be tested without rebuilding all of LFRic, and document or validate the chosen scope.
