Description

Currently in the default colorbar json file we have a max/min range only. This assumes a linear scale. However, for some variables a log scale is more appropriate, or specific levels. Therefore norms need to be defined in the json as we use pcolormesh by default for the spatial plotting.

Research direction

Start by locating the default colorbar JSON and the spatial plotting path that uses pcolormesh. Define how logarithmic scales or explicit levels are represented in the JSON, then verify that spatial colorbars honor those norms.
