Description
To help improve evaluation of weather prediction models for the Energy industry a host of diagnostics need to be considered, potentially over different areas than would normally be considered.
Diagnostics for the following need to be investigated:
- SW radiation at surface
- Cloud Cover (high, medium, low, combined) - (lesser extent)
- wind speed at 10 m
- wind speed between 10 and 250 m AGL
- change in wind speed with time
- wind speed greater than 25 m/s
- wind direction (lesser extent)
- 2 m temperature
These diagnostics will not require "domain-mean" but will instead require area specific work (e.g. North Sea, urban areas, locations of large solar farms) and so will link into #2032.
This issue will track what we currently have available in terms of these diagnostics and suggest ways forward for the evaluation of models for Energy industry customers.
