Description

VScode flagged "undefined variable InputError" in extract
https://github.com/MetOffice/CDDS/blob/main/cdds/cdds/extract/common.py#L707

This likely needs changing to use `RuntimeError` instead

Research direction

Open cdds/cdds/extract/common.py at line 707 and inspect the undefined InputError reference in extract. Confirm the intended RuntimeError replacement from the issue, then run the relevant extract checks or tests available in the repository; done means the undefined-variable warning is resolved without breaking extraction behavior.
