Description

Migrated Jira Issue CDDSO-453
Jira creation date 16/04/2024 14:53
-------
If attempting to produce a 19 pressure level variable, e.g. Amon/wap, it would be preferable to raise an exception within MIP convert with a useful error message rather than rely on CMOR raising an error which is hidden in the CMOR log file

Research direction

Start by locating the MIP convert entry point that handles pressure-level variables and the existing CMOR invocation. Check how missing levels are currently passed through, then use the issue's 19-level example to define an early, useful exception before CMOR runs.
