Description

When user creates a project from an existing project, an empty folder called proj appears in the project dir. Experienced when Use current QGIS project as is was chosen but might be also case for Package current QGIS project.

Probably created when packaging datum grads. We should remove it if empty, or not to create when there are no datum shift grids IMO.

Research direction

Reproduce project creation from an existing project with both “Use current QGIS project as is” and “Package current QGIS project” selected, then trace the packaging path for datum shift grids. Done means neither flow leaves an empty proj folder in the project directory.
