Description
**Description**
When a user is connected to a Trimble GNSS device via Trimble Mobile Manager (TMM) in the Mergin Maps app and TMM crashes, the MM app correctly shows the position provider as disconnected. However, after restarting TMM, the connection is not automatically restored — the user must either restart the MM app or manually switch position providers to re-establish the GNSS connection.
**Environment**
[ ] Staging [ ] PROD
**Application (+ app version, build, operating system)**
Mergin Maps Mobile App
- Android: 2026.3.2 / Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, Android 16
- iOS: 2026.3.2 / iOS 26.0
**Steps to reproduce**
1. Connect to a Trimble GNSS device via TMM in the MM app
2. Verify the position provider is active and connected
3. Force-close or crash TMM
4. Observe the MM app shows the position provider as disconnected
5. Restart TMM
6. Observe the MM app — connection is not restored
**Actual results**
After TMM restarts, the MM app remains in a disconnected state. The user must restart the MM app or manually change the position provider to restore the GNSS connection.
**Expected results**
After TMM restarts and becomes available again, the MM app should automatically reconnect to the Trimble GNSS provider without requiring user intervention.

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by tracing the Trimble GNSS provider lifecycle around TMM disconnect and restart on Android and iOS, then reproduce the listed force-close and restart sequence. Done means the Mergin Maps app automatically restores the provider connection without an app restart or manual provider switch.
