Description

The builder.statistics prints out NaN in the weight field (w) if a descriptor is not selected for the final prediction.

Since NaNs are often associated with failed calculations, I would suggest to replace it with 0.0.

Research direction

Start at the builder.statistics output path described in the issue and reproduce a prediction where a descriptor is not selected. Confirm that the weight field currently becomes NaN, then verify that the completed change reports 0.0 instead and does not alter selected descriptors' weights.
