Description

I have

public $hideable = 'select';

on my table. This works, and gives me a dropdown menu with all columns so that I can toggle their visibility.

But, if I use the Column function

->hide()

it doesn't initially hide the column as expected. I don't get an error message.

Did I forget something?

Research direction

Reproduce the reported table configuration with public $hideable = 'select'; and a column using ->hide(), then trace the Column visibility behavior from that entry point. Done means the column is initially hidden while remaining available in the visibility dropdown.
