Description
First of all, thank you for maintaining Emby for Kodi.
The integration between Emby and Kodi provides one of the most powerful media experiences available for self-hosted users, especially with its library synchronization, watched-state syncing, resume support, and flexible playback options.
I would like to suggest adding support for SIMKL integration alongside existing tracking solutions.
Why SIMKL? Many Kodi and Emby users already rely on external tracking services to maintain their watch history independently from their local installations.
Suggested Integration Features
- Watch History Sync: Synchronize watched movies and episodes between Emby for Kodi and SIMKL.
- Resume Progress Sync: Use existing playback progress information to synchronize resume positions with SIMKL where applicable.
- Ratings Sync: Allow users to import and export ratings between Kodi and SIMKL.
- Personalized Discovery: Allow SIMKL recommendations and trending content to be used as optional discovery sources within Kodi.
Benefits
- Alternative tracking provider alongside Trakt
- Better support for anime-focused users
- Unified Movies, TV Shows, and Anime tracking
- Cloud-based watch history backup
- Easier migration between Kodi, Emby, Jellyfin, Plex, and other media platforms
- Improved personalization and content discovery

Research direction
The issue names no repository files, tests, or entry points. Start by reviewing the existing Trakt integration and the linked SIMKL API documentation, then determine how the requested watch history, resume, ratings, and discovery features fit the plugin. Done would require an agreed scope and working SIMKL support for the selected features.
