Description

In the new pre-commit script, ruff does not report which files it has modified, so you cannot see which files need to be added with git.
ps. via git status you can see which files have been changed so it is not urgent.

Research direction

Inspect the new pre-commit script and reproduce its ruff run. Determine how modified files are currently reported, then verify that the hook output identifies those files so contributors know what to add with git.
