Horizontal spacing section confusingly mentions vertical spacing

Description
In the "Horizontal Spacing" section, it talks about spaces between tokens, but then there's a line that says:
Separation thus is the vertical space between tokens, where tokens are any keywords, variables, constructs.
I'm trying to work out why it says "vertical space between tokens". Surely it is horizontal space that it's talking about here? (Am I somehow completely misreading it?)
