Description

I'm on the fence about this and we *do* link to the original PR. But when an issue comes over, it feels like most of the already-discussed things are lost. This might be mitigated by somehow bringing over all of the comments. Not sure how that would be presented though.

First steps

  1. Read the whole issue, then the project's contributing guide.
  2. Comment on the issue to say you are picking it up — it saves two people doing the same work.
  3. Fork the repository and make your change on a branch.
  4. Open a pull request that references the issue number.

Research direction

Start by reviewing how the bot currently moves issues and links them to the original pull request. Determine how comments are represented after a move and what presentation would preserve the prior discussion; done means the behavior and user-facing result are clearly defined.
