Description

We already display the stars of the repositories on the page. For GitHub repositories, they are retrieved via the GitHub API.

With a quick and dirty solution, the stars for non-GitHub repositories were written hard into the code. There are only a handful of repositories outside of GitHub, but we should do this properly.

First steps

  1. Read the whole issue, then the project's contributing guide.
  2. Comment on the issue to say you are picking it up — it saves two people doing the same work.
  3. Fork the repository and make your change on a branch.
  4. Open a pull request that references the issue number.

Research direction

Start by locating the GitHub API star retrieval and the hard-coded star values for non-GitHub repositories. Determine how the existing page loads repository data and identify suitable APIs for the remaining repositories. Done means non-GitHub stars are retrieved rather than embedded in the code and displayed correctly.
