Description

In the following example, the underscores are used to apply italics - removing them from the output. Github handles this fine. I'm fine with comments being output, but they should be output as-is.

Research direction

Reproduce the reported example in MacDown and inspect the Markdown parsing path that handles HTML comments. Confirm that comments are emitted as-is, including underscores, and verify that markup inside them is not parsed.
