Description
Your solution to #108 is very nice looking. The new issue that arrises from this is, that the preview width is not optionally limited to ensure that everything is balanced visually. This probably has to be done by dynamically changing the theme CSS. It is this, which is the source of the inset of the content in the WebView.
Does anyone have any ideas for how to achieve this in a way that is not ugly and a maintenance hazard?

Research direction
Start by reviewing the implementation from issue #108 and the theme CSS/WebView behavior that controls the content inset. Determine how a constrained editor width should limit the preview while avoiding a maintenance hazard; the issue needs a concrete design and acceptance criteria before implementation can be considered done.
