Description
I notice that my file types for .md files (which MacDown is set to open as the default app) show up in the Finder as "md 文件". That seems inappropriate for my English-language system.
I also wonder if this is goofing up quicklook in Catalina. If the extension is "markdown", the file type gets reported as "Markdown" and ql works fine, but ql is not working on ".md".

Research direction
No implementation file or test is identified. Start by reproducing the Finder file type and Quick Look behavior for .md and .markdown files on macOS; done means the .md association displays appropriately on an English-language system and Quick Look works as expected.
