Description
Some primitives work column by column or row by row, so it should be possible to indicate that in the JSON and have this done without any additional custom code for each primitive.

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by tracing how primitives and their JSON configuration are loaded and applied in MLBlocks, then identify the shared path that could support row-wise or column-wise execution without per-primitive custom code. Done means the axis behavior is expressible in JSON and works across applicable primitives.
