Description

The wfdb C package uses the WFDB environment variable to look for records locations.

wfdb-python apparently ignores this environment variable and I could not find a way to use or set it in the documentation.

I have worked around it using a wrapper, but I would like to know if there is any plan to support this feature.

Research direction

No file, test, or entry point is named. Start by locating how wfdb-python resolves record locations and compare that behavior with the WFDB environment variable described in the issue. Done means the variable can be used or set as expected and the supported behavior is documented.
