Description

I'm working with the MIT database and I have a question, could you solve it?

When is used the 'rdann' function, it is returned some variables and one of them it's the 'comments' variable. I'd like to know what are the empty spaces '[]' (empty cell)? There isn't an information about this on the list avaliable on site - https://physionet.org/physiobank/database/html/mitdbdir/intro.htm#symbols.

Research direction

Start with the rdann function and the MITDB symbol documentation at the linked PhysioNet page; determine what empty cells in the returned comments variable represent. Update or extend the documentation so this meaning is explicit, and verify the wording against rdann's output.
