As in these videos, the chunks have dark stripes on them that move with the player's look (especially noticeable in vivecraft.) This happens in every version past 0.2.6 where it worked fine. It seems to become more extreme at high resolutions, with it appearing almost gridlike at 300 percent rr in vivecraft.
Important to note as in this video it applies to flatscreen too, with or without vivecraft installed. Often you can see the circle cutout in the shading when looking dead on at the X Y or Z axis.

Research direction
Reproduce the dark moving stripes in a flatscreen setup, both with and without Vivecraft, comparing a working 0.2.6 version with later versions. Check whether the effect changes with render resolution and viewing along the X, Y, and Z axes. Done means the ambient-occlusion shading no longer shows moving stripes or the circular cutout in affected versions.
