Description

Original LiveSplit has a hidden function where you can close splits and as long you don't change the layout you would be able to perform stopwatch functionality without making use of the splits system.
Thought perhaps this could make a return in a more reliable and accessible manner, for those who wish to speedrun without worrying about splits.

Research direction

Review the existing timer and splits behavior in livesplit-core, using the issue's description of Original LiveSplit's hidden no-splits function as the starting point. Define how an accessible, reliable stopwatch mode should behave and what completion criteria distinguish it from the splits system.
