Research direction

The issue does not name any files, tests, reproduction steps, logs, or complete environment details. Start by obtaining a minimal reproducible example and the missing version and runtime information, then compare parameter updates between the reported versions. Done means identifying the cause and documenting a verified regression test or reproduction.
